December 3, 2006 - TOYS for TOTS - Honolulu, HI.
Under blue skies and 81°, warm with trade winds 5 to 10 mph, Motorcycle Enthusiasts numbering more than 4,000 take to Waikiki this morning for the annual Toys for Tots run. Thousands of motorcycles wait at Magic Island and lined up for this annual event. Thousands of motorcyclists converge on Oahu for this event from all the islands, even the mainland. They put their motorcycles into a container from Kauai, Maui, the Big Island, and the mainland to ship them just for this annual event every year.
Santa Clause and his sleigh are pulled by a Motorcycle instead of Reindeers here for this run. Where is Rudolph? Santa says he gave them the day off, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and his friends are on the beach taking in the sun and playing in the water. Motorcycles of all kinds, three wheels, two wheels and mini wheels toted all types of toys for the children. The parade and roar of thousands of motorcycles left Magic Island and paraded through Waikiki in front of hundreds of onlookers. The crowd cheered, applauded, took pictures, with thumbs-up, shaka signs and waved as the iron horses roared through Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki, and through Kapiolani Park and all the way to Diamond Head, Kapiolani Community College. There a container was waiting to receive the toys, numbering more than 5,000, brought by these motorcycle enthusiasts. We all put our toys into the hands of the Marines who are waiting with open arms to receive them from us. Unbelievably successful we filled the container completely. The camaraderie of motorcycle enthusiasts is one of fellowship, brotherhood and love. No matter where we roam, we are one big happy family!
